Shirdi, also known as Sainagar, is a city and pilgrimage site in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The Rahata taluka of Ahmednagar District is where you'll find Shirdi's samadhi mandir, the final resting place of the 19th-century Indian satguru Sai Baba. It is accessible via the Ahmednagar–Malegaon State Highway No.10, which is approximately 83 km (52 mi) from Ahmednagar and 15 km (9.3 mi) from Kopargaon. Additionally, it is located 185 km (115 mi) east of the Ahmednagar–Manmad road. Shirdi is home to the Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust. Every day, over 60,000 tourists and devotees from all faiths and religions visit the temple, and this number increases during festive seasons. The temple opens at 4:45 am. Other places related to the life of Shri Sai in Shirdi include Dwarkamai Mandir, Chavadi, and Gurusthan.
Shirdi Sai Baba predicted his departure from his mortal body in August 1918. In September, he fell ill and stopped eating. He passed away in October and was buried at Buti Wada in Shirdi. Today, this site is known as Shree Samadhi Mandir or Shirdi Sai Baba Temple and serves as a place of worship for his millions of followers worldwide.
In August 1918, Shirdi Sai Baba informed some of his devotees that he would soon be "leaving his mortal body". Towards the end of September, he developed a high fever and stopped eating. As his condition worsened, he requested his disciples to recite holy texts to him, while still meeting visitors. On 15th October 1918, coinciding with the Vijayadashami festival, he passed away. His remains were buried at Buti Wada in Shirdi, which later became a place of worship now known as Shree Samadhi Mandir or Shirdi Sai Baba Temple.
